Friday August 20, 2010:
Joey from the Sun Harbor Bay Club reports that the fluke fishing both inside and out has been basically the same. A lot of shorts and not many keepers. There have been some good reports of nice seabass being picked up on the reefs and local wrecks so you can still have a productive day fishing if you can get outside. Big bluefish (some up to 15 pounds) arrived last Saturday and are still around. Looking for birds working or bunker schools is the way to go here. Make sure you have heavier fishing gear and wire leaders because these fish are really big and put up a tremendous fight. Way to big for regular fluking equipment. Those who decide to stay in the bay can be rewarded with good catches of blowfish and kingfish. Stay on the west side of the bay in 8 to 10 feet of water, anchor up using clam chum and in short order the fish will come in. Reports of over 50 blowfish per boat are not uncommon. The crabbing has remained excellent with good number as well as big crabs being taken almost in any of the shallow area of the bay. Stop by the store for all your fishing and crabbing needs and also for the most up to date fishing information available.
Regards,
Joe / Sun Harbor Bay Club
